American Airlines Fail

What’s worse than having a flight delayed?

Having a flight delayed that a world-famous management guru is scheduled to take.

Having a flight delayed that a world-famous management guru is scheduled to take, and having the service staff evaporate without telling anyone anything.

Stay classy, American Airlines.

Glad I’m not flying American this year (Air Canada and United–the latter used to have the same rep as AA but after taking some dings and getting heat from the popularity of its Captain Denny, has gotten much better (I’ve heard from the fliers here at work). Sounds like AA is on a downward spiral. There are good flying experiences but you have to *pay* for them.

When you have crafted things such that you are in a tight oligopoly, and are a near monopoly in some markets, and are running at 95% capacity, you don’t have to worry about things like customers. I’m pretty sure Tom Peters can fly first class if he wants (don’t know if he does). So even the more expensive options might not turn out to be better.

It’s also possible that the airline agents have been associating with TSA too long — if you complain too much you are classified as hostile, and a threat to aviation safety.
